Stagemaker SR: The new generation

STAGEMAKER SR: New generation of VERLINDE electric chain hoists for the entertainment industry. Boasting an entirely new ergonomic design, STAGEMAKER SR is the only model available on the market fitted with double lifting brake, retractable handgrips and protective rubber pads. STAGEMAKER SR fits in well with all types of installation offering best-in-class safety and productivity.

STAGEMAKER SR is marketed in two models, SR2 for loads of up to 250kg, and SR5 for loads of up to 500kg, each available with hoist speeds of 4m/min, 8m/mim or 16m/min. The two models are marketed in versions A and B. The version A refers to motors with direct voltage control for rental and general rigging purposes. The version B refers to motors with low voltage control for fixed installations. Its new ergonomic design, black in colour, enables it to fit in well with its environment especially with grid lighting systems. Its handgrips prevent any risk of injury during assembly while offering optimum compactness when retracted. Protective rubber pads also offer shock protection during handling.

Keeping to the VERLINDE STAGEMAKER tradition, STAGEMAKER SR is fitted with the best possible safety features. As standard delivery the new STAGEMAKER SR model is equipped with double lifting brake, in order to render this unit directly compatible with D8 and D8+ (with new setting of the torque limiter to divide by 2 nominal capacity), this lifting unit will also became the first and alone product on the market with such safety level. The standard version is fitted with a new hoist load wheel concept with intermediate teeth for the drive chain, a Start/Stop palm button on the control box, a torque limiter, a hoist disc brake, low control voltage (48V), a variable speed travel motor and an electric safety limit switch for high and low positions. With the new torque limiter, the positioning of the clutch system in the gear box ensures the load is securely held by the brake whatever the operating conditions of the equipment. Fitted with an electric stop function as standard equipment on the version B, the safety of maximum upper and lower positioning of the hook is ensured by these electric limit switches and the switches themselves activated in turn by two rope slack stops. Lubricated for life to reduce maintenance, the gear reducer was designed for very long durations of operation of up to 3200 hours. Maintenance operations are now simpler, faster and more economical: easy access to brake adjustments, torque limiter settings, fuses, etc. High precision machining on the gear trains, moreover, ensures a very low noise pollution level of only 70dBA. The clutch system is easy of access for occasional maintenance operations and its location in the gear box ensures the load is securely held by the brake whatever the operating conditions of the equipment.

The recently patented « Perfect Push ®», 5-pocket hoist load wheel concept has 5 intermediate teeth for absolute grip of the hoisting chain providing a better chain guide and reducing the polygon effect. The “CHAINFlux MKII” high strength aluminium guide system also ensures fluid movement of chain on horizontal output from the hoist load wheel facilitating passage of the chain on ejection. The system prevents the “polygon effect” due to twisting of the chain and optimizes chain input to the chain bucket. The safety of maximum upper and lower positions of the hook is moreover ensured by electric limit switches located under the chain guide system. The switches are activated in turn by the upper cone of the hoist hook and the slack rope stop.

Numerous options are available: gear limit switch (2 or 4 steps), motor mounted with a lug to replace the top hook, automatic closing of lifting hook, controllers range and flight cases range.

Three cranes and six Verlinde hoists in the injection mould maintenance workshop at Parker Hannifin

PARKER HANNIFIN with its global turnover of Euros 11.5bn is a world leader in movement and control technologies. The company designs, manufactures and markets a wide range of hydraulic, pneumatic and electromechanical components. The Muzillac factory in Brittany employing 130, located 25 km from Vannes, is a plastics injection specialist for products of the FSCE division and for the automatic assembly of instant fittings The factory is ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO TS certified and the injection mould maintenance workshop very recently installed three EUROPONT overhead cranes on each one of which is fitted two VERLINDE hoists.

 

The moulding workshop.
The moulding workshop is the core production activity at the Muzillac plant. Twenty-two Engel, Fanuc or Ferromatik injection presses are served by a overhead crane fitted with a 3-tonne VERLINDE EUROCHAIN VR Vario electric chain hoist for mould changing operations. These presses are used for the moulding of connectors for small pneumatic hoses and for compressed air system couplings in industrial buildings. For the car industry, five presses are dedicated to the production of motor fuel distribution circuits integrated by Parker Autolive in its manufacturing facilities. Mickael Le Pon, injection facility production manager, explains.“We carry out between 300 and 350 parts series changes per month involving just as many injection mould changes. To ensure the moulding workshop works at full capacity it is first of all vital that the moulds are in perfect condition and as their manipulation can only be carried out with the crane, the latter must be totally available and reliable.”

 

Mould routine maintenance, a decisive production factor.
Mickael Lepon: “Even if our activity is complex, it has to be understood that it is based in the main on two basic equipment units – plastic injection presses and moulds. To ensure production quantity and quality in phase with our targets, we have to ensure without fail regular inspections and routine maintenance of the moulds because we depend to a large extent on them to guarantee the productivity and the manufacturing quality of our products.”

 

A special workshop for mould routine maintenance.
The 500 m² workshop dedicated to mould routine maintenance consists of three successive square 10 m x 10 m work stations. After a certain number of duty cycles, the mould is removed, cleaned ultrasonically and the toolmaker is sometimes required to recondition the spindles by electro erosion or replace possible faulty parts.

 

Installation of suspended cranes and VERLINDE EUROCHAIN VR Vario hoists.
Before the EUROPONT cranes were installed, a single jib crane served the three work stations. As the manipulation of metallic moulds whose weight varies between 50 and 1,500 kg necessitates taking numerous precautions, the toolmakers frequently had their work interrupted while awaiting the availability of the jib crane. It was therefore decided to make each station autonomous with its own crane fitted with two VERLINDE hoists of a lifting capacity of 1.6 tonnes. The three EUROPONT cranes travel on the same metallic structure and to avoid accidental collisions, limit switches guarantee travel safety.
Following this new work organization making each work station autonomous, the productivity of the mould routine maintenance shop has risen by 25%. As moulds are made of two parts whose sizes and weights vary, each crane is fitted with two VERLINDE EUROCHAIN VR Vario hoists in order to facilitate their manipulation in complete safety.
The selected VERLINDE EUROCHAIN VR Vario hoists are fitted with 2-speed motors for lifting and a variable speed motor for horizontal travel. In this way the load is totally controlled horizontally and vertically without any rocking effect. The daisy-chain type power supply is conventional and the control boxes are wired. This solution was in fact preferred to a wireless system for reasons of safety, in order to avoid any possible confusion between the control boxes of the three work stations

Eurochain VR12 Phase 2

VERLINDE hoist used for PELLOBY inverted travelling jib crane

PELLOBY recently installed a unique inverted travelling jib crane featuring a VERLINDE VT2 EUROBLOC wire rope hoist at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) ISIS complex at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Oxford.ISIS is a world-leading materials research centre which produces beams of neutrons and muons that can delve into the complexity of matter using a suite of beamline instruments, which gives unique insights into the properties of materials on the atomic scale.

A series of three adjacent overhead cranes span the width of one of the two large ISIS experimental halls onsite that allow access to the various beam defining equipment areas. However as the building´s capabilities were expanded to accommodate additional instruments, some of the new beam defining equipment areas were located in a ´cranage dead zone´ which the existing overhead cranes couldn´t reach.

Pelloby (www.pelloby.com) were asked to come up with a lifting solution to give ISIS and the various research teams at the complex, suitable craneage access to these dead zone areas – the aim being to lift beamline instrument components, shielding and other materials in and out of the restricted crane access areas.

Working closely with STFC engineers, our designers set to work and the result was an inverted travelling jib crane which can traverse the length of the building along a 53 metre gantry support rail system, while also providing continuous 360 degree access in a five metre radius thanks to a powered rotating jib arm. This innovative modified travelling jib crane can support loads of up to five tonnes thanks to a Verlinde VT2 Eurobloc hoist.

This position is very important to the on-going development of our company and as such will attract experienced individuals who have proven track record in sales / business development.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to work within a team. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and you should be competent with basic computer software (able to operate Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook). An understanding of the UK lifting equipment / crane industry  is preferable, as is an engineering background, however this is not essential, as full product training will be given.

Client development will be a key requirement of the position, extending current and establishing new client relationships. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a capability in generating and maintaining good lines of communication and the effective management of client expectations.

Although the position will be based at our Moreton facility, the role will also include external sales and site visits covering the whole of the UK.

Duties will include

Developing current clients to expand the business relationship
Generate new clients and introduce services and products
Sales administration and order processing

This will be achieved by: 

Contacting prospects on a daily basis to gather required information needed to make the sale
Researching Tendering & Procurement sites searching for the relevant advertisements for new business
Registering on Supplier Lists and maintaining contact with the company with the focus to becoming their suppliers
Building relationships with existing and potential clients and up-selling our company’s products and services
Completing the tendering process and the Pre-Qualification Questionnaires
Dealing with any enquiries and gaining feedback regarding the service we provide
Responding to inbound email requests for information

You will also be required to:

Complete various administrative tasks with accurate record keeping.
Achieve individual target
Complete other duties as required

Hours will be 8:30am to 5:00pm, 5 days per week; however flexibility in working hours will be essential to the successful implementation of this role.

This is a permanent position (following a trial period) with a competitive salary dependent upon experience and skills.
